Formerly known as a one-at-a-time phenomenon, like big bites of a delicious meal, prints are making their comeback in a no-holds-barred, all-you-can-eat-buffet kind of way. Layer them, mix-and-match them, and most of all, have fun with them!
If you’re a little less print happy then, say, the ladies pictured above, or get dizzy at the sight of Givenchy’s spring line, here are a couple guidelines:
1. Stick to what you know – if you’re a striped-tee-shirt kind of girl, branch off of that. Try a seersucker blazer over your tee, or grab a dress with a bit of a bolder stripe. Play with what you’re comfortable with.
2. Keep it in the family: the color family, that is – If you’re into the print on print but don’t feel like rocking the whole “I got dressed in the dark and I LOVE it” look, try to keep your prints in the same color family. Some particularly chic, safe bets include black and white (as always), neutrals like greys and beiges, or navy, red and white for a nod to nautical.
3. Start small – Smaller prints are more subtle and can keep your outfit from looking too out there. Try some tiny polka-dots in the form of a chiffon blouse, or a delicate floral on a blazer.
Happy print-ing!
